hi!
it's getting closer and closer to the day that immigration approves me! my school sent me an email asking about how i'd prefer to pay for tuition and such. they also told me which apartment i'm getting! it's not as nice as the one that was on the top of my list, but oh well.
i'm staying in a TEENY freaking apartment that's about 22 sq meters (roughly 236 sq ft). i've got tatami mat and kotatsu (which i'm so excited about), with no desk or chairs (not so excited about). i'm gonna be sleeping on the floor with a japanese futon (very cool actually!!!) but my kitchen doesn't really have a place for dishes or pantry items (not so cool). and not even to mention the counter space. i have to MOVE the gas range on the floor or something to get to the counter. they genuinely weren't joking about living the "full japanese experience". i'm not upset about any of this, because that's just how japanese apartments are, but that first apartment that i was wanting had a lottt more space and actually had cabinets above for pantry/dishes. oh well. i pay rent by semester so maybe if the apartment becomes vacant, they would let me move in?
(this is ALL the kitchen space. i might have room to the right of the fridge (not shown) to buy a shelf to use as a pantry, so that's nice at least!)
well whatever happens, i'm going to make it work. i can't be too picky. i'm gonna be living in japan after all!
