why hellooo there
it has been quite a long time so i apologize lol, but i found the motivation to work on a blog post again! yippie!
i've had a pretty okay past few months. december was so fun! i got to go back to the US for winter break! i did tons of stuff. me and my family went to disney for christmas, then did new years at my aunt's house, and then i kinda just tried to spend as much time with friends and family as i could after that! it was a pretty exhausting trip there and the way back, probably 24hr travel days both times. brutal and the first time i'd ever done international travel all by myself. it's funny because i loveee to travel but i hatteee the travelling. it's so exhausting and kinda horrifying. i think i have a slight fear of planes. but yeah anyways, i was missing all my friends and family so badly after, what, roughly 6 months being away? so it was so nice to be able to see them all in person again :)
i freaking love the kirby stuff, i think they were having some kirby promotion for the newest game and everything in family mart was just kirby haha.
THAT BURRITO BTW IS THE BEST BURRITO IN NAGOYA! i mean i haven't really gotten mexican food many other places BUT STILL! it's from Sayulita right around the OSU area. seriously delicious burritos. the taiyaki is also from a little shop in OSU! it's soo good. literally 300 yen for a super fresh, hot taiyaki (with red beenz ofc). it's my favorite japanese dessert! thennnn a really cool exhibition-type book store that's just mystery books. they had this fun little spooky display outside. i believe it's called mystery books or something, it's also in OSU!
also star wars coke hehe i love it. i wish i got more guys though, i think they stopped stocking them in the vending machine :(
some disney pics! that last photo of food is paella, probably my favorite dish in the world. literally so simple, but incredibly delicious. it's from Jaleo in downtown disney!
i had a tight knit friend group last semester, but many of them graduated, and that was so sad. they were all very close friends and i miss them all the time. i'm still glad that some stayed around, but you can definitely feel their absence. we had a nice birthday party/going away party where one of my friends did a homemade crepe cake! it was awesome. that whole day was so bittersweet, but also it was kind of hard to feel the sadness cause everyone was having a good time. i feel like the reality that they were all leaving didn't truly set until i came back to school without them. ahhh it was so sad...but i'm so glad i was able to become friends with them! i hope to keep in touch!
unfortunately this semester has been a lotttt. i wouldn't consider it hard. i mean sure, it's difficult, learning a language takes a lot of time and patience, but the bare bones of the class is not hard to keep up with. what's hard to keep up with is the homework. every single day we have at least 2 quizzes. i don't mind the grammar, that's something i'm really strong at, but the kanji quiz is...i know every english speaker complains about kanji, but i didn't think i would struggle that much. it is very difficult, but i'm actually interested in it! but for some reason they decided quantity mattered more than quality, so every day we have to learn roughly 50 kanji, and then we only get quizzed on 5...aaaugghhjhhhhh. it's very frustrating! so yeah i'm a bit behind on a couple things, but i make sure to at least do the bare minimum. i hope to get caught up, but my main focus is just do well on the grammar and vocab, since that's what the finals focus on.
even though i need to study hard so i can get the basics down, i'm just ready to be able to read and do presentations on more complicated stuff that i'm passionate about. the most fun i have when using japanese is when i'm able to read the things i enjoy or when we get to make presentations on anything we like. it's really rewarding and fun to delve into things you're interested in! i recently just bought a book on all the constellations. it's pretty simple actually, it has a short reading passage for each constallation and it's myth related to it. my first big presentation last class was about contellations and myths, so i already know a decent amount of terminology! it'll be a fun read :D
other than all that, i've been doing a lot of gaming, reading, and singing! my boyfriend and his friends kept playing marvel rivals. it's not really the type of game i'm usually interested in, but i got sucked in just watching their gameplay. so i caved in and started playing with them, and it's the best fun i've ever had!! it definitely helps that there's characters i love (JEFF I LOVE JEFF AHHHH). i already grinded so much and got 3 different jeff skins for free teehee. now the most recent season came out and SCARLET WHICH GOT THE HOTTESTTTT NEW SKIN I NEED IT!!! i told myself i wasn't gonna spend money on the game but...i might have to...
i've been reading tons of percy jackson. i read the first series, PJO, last year in a matter of a week or two, then read some short stories in between, and started on the second series HOO! i re-read the PJO series almost every year, it's been my favorite books since i was about 8 years old. the story has always stuck with me and i'm never not thinking about it. it's kind of insane. this is the first time i've comitted and re-read the HOO series! of course it was amazing back then when i first read it, but oh my gods i think it's way better than i even could remember. i sped through the first two books, then slowed down on The Mark of Athena since i was reading it over my winter break. i just recently finished it, quickly moved onto The House of Hades, which i proceeded to finish in maybe 2.5 days. i could have done faster if i was able to read all day hahaha. now i'm on The Blood of Olympus and i'm sooo hyped! my goal this year is to finish every single Rick Riordan book out there. AND ALSO THE SUN AND THE STAR! AHHH MY GAY BOYS I'M SO EXCITED!
and then singing!! i've been singing so much. my favorite songs to sing recently has been literally every song from Epic: The Musical. with my love of PJO and greek myths and stuff, you'd think i'd've known about Epic since day one. but alas, it was majorly on tik tok, and i don't really use social media n stuff so. i think i had made my pledge to quit tik tok shortly before Jorge even started putting stuff out there about it. so yeah unfortunately i only heard about it recently, from a friend who unfortunately had to leave last class as well. i had expressed my love of myths n stuff to him and he was like "dude have you ever read the odyssey or listened to epic the musical?" and i was like "NOOOO THAT SOUNDS AMAZING?!". i didn't really get to it until recently, but ironmouse (i've had a recent obsession with her, she's awesome) had started watching the anamatic "movie" for it, and i immediately went and watched the whole thing myself. it was...way better than i thought it would be. as much as i love music and golden age musicals, i've never really been a modern musical person. i think it's cause i was a band kid and we always had a rivalry with the theatre kids haha. so yeah it was always difficult to get into theatre and musicals, but turns out i actually genuinely love it and i've been denying it for years. so uh yeah i'm obsessed with epic the musical and have been singing it all the time. i've also been able to hang out with a friend who plays guitar, and we try to make some music together. it's always really fun and hopefully we get to do it more!! i wanna get really good at singing :3
OH ALSO RANDOM LAST THOUGHT BUT I RE-WATCHED VOLTRON THE LEGENDARY DEFENDER AND IT'S BEEN SOOOO LONG AND BY THE GODS DID THEY DO ALL THE CHARACTERS DIRTY IN THAT LAST SEASON, IT WAS OUTRAGEOUS. i love that show with my whole heart and i was woefully dissapointed. and i cried so much. they really didn't have to do all that...it was just so unnecessarily depressing and sad, and i just had to cry for a long while. i simply will pretend that last season didn't really exist...that's all hehe
anyways thanks for listening to me yap as always! i hope to post more consistently again! i haven't been going out too much since it's been so cold, but it's finally beginning to warm up and i'm so ready for spring! so i'm sure i'll find the time to do some more stuff :3 anyways here's some random pics!
ayways, until next time!
またね!
