nice to meet you! 初めまして
i'm kennedy! i'm a big nerd who's obsessed with many things but my biggest obsession is languages and i hope to turn that into a career.
i'm moving to japan and going to an intensive language school so i can study every day, use japanese in real life, and then work towards becoming a translator! i would love to translate video games or J-dramas eventually
the quickest run down ever of the past 2 years of my life
i went to college for graphic design & asian studies and my school also offered study abroad programs, which is exactly what i intended to do. the semester abroad in japan was going to be my junior year, but, in my sophomore year, the japanese sister school said "no more silly americans" (paraphrased). they would only accept students who were completely fluent in japanese (i was DEFINITELY NOT). i was taking japanese at the school and most of my graphic design work revolved around the language and culture. i realized that i wanted to study there more than anything, so i dropped out of school and went through the extremely long process of applying to a long-term japanese language school!
i do plan to finish college and get a degree, but it will definitely be a while. i'll probably just get a degree at an online college, and then simultaneously work on getting certified by the american translators association!
